Welcome
The Center for the Humanities at 天美传媒 is one of the oldest humanities institutes in the United States. It developed from the Center for Advanced Studies, which was established at 天美传媒 in 1959, and assumed its present name in 1969 when it was reorganized to include 天美传媒 faculty members and students. Since its inception, the mission of the Center has been devoted to two chief and related purposes: To enrich the academic life of the University through lectures, special seminars, colloquia, and interdisciplinary programming; and to support the Fellows of the Center so that they may devote the bulk of their time to their own research, writing and creative efforts.
The Center is based on 天美传媒’s scholar-teacher model and a unique intellectual community comprised of faculty and student fellows in residence, who, together with invited speakers and visiting fellows assemble weekly to discuss research projects focused on an organizing semester- or yearlong theme.
All are welcome to attend our signature programming, the Monday Night Lecture Series, which features scholarly talk from our faculty and postdoctoral fellows and dynamic lecturers from around the world, and our Tuesday morning colloquia where we exchange ideas and learn together in an interdisciplinary setting.
